Fourth of July

Being that this past week was the week of the 4th of July, I spent the week as any all American girl would: eating, watching baseball, more eating and fireworks.

To start off the work week, so co-workers and I went to a new pub that opened up within the last couple of months. Parlay Social ‘is a prohibition era throwback to the Speak Easies of old’ according to their website, which also has a calendar of upcoming live music events. Being that it was 11:30 in the morning when we went I have no idea how crowded it can get during the events, I can however talk about their food. We split the ‘Speak Easy Cheesy’ pizza, which has mozzarella, Parmesan, and Romano cheeses and fresh basil. Yum! Not only was it delicious it was quick coming out too, about 10 minutes

Another fun all American activity is going to the ballpark to watch a game of good old baseball. The town I live in doesn’t have a major league team. I love seeing live entertainment (sports games, music, plays, ect) and minor league games are fun and a lot cheaper than a major league game. For twenty bucks I got a ticket and food ( I could have also paid the $3 to park but was with other people) and I still had like five dollars left over! It was 35ยข hotdog night, my friend Kristen was the champ with eating five hotdogs.

Did I mention that there were also fireworks after the game? Well there was, which was great. Due to the lack of rain and the 100+ degree weather they banned the use of personal fireworks here, but the fire department was on hand in case any caught on fire (which it thankfully didn’t)

We celebrated Independence Day in style. We grilled out and brought side dishes, there was a ton of great food!

There was also a ping ping competition, a football that was getting tossed around ( I personally witness two different people get hit in the side of the head while not paying attention) and corn hole aka bags

What better way to celebrate the independence of our amazing country than in the company of great friends and good food! I ate more food than I thought possible and will need to try and track down some of the recipes of the goodies that were brought to the party, I’ll let you know how they turn out. Hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th.
